Twentieth Century Fox have released the first trailer for thriller “Underwater,” from director William Eubank. The film stars Kristen Stewart (“Personal Shopper”), Vincent Cassel (“Black Swan”), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist”), John Gallagher Jr. (“Short Term 12”), Mamoudou Athie (“Patti Cake$”) and T.J. Miller (“Deadpool”).
A crew of underwater researchers must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory.
The trailer shows a research crew arriving to unexpected consequences in the aftermath of an earthquake that bursts water through their facility and somehow unveils a sea monster. With their oxygen supply on decline, they must decide on how to reach the other side of the lab safely.
Eubank directs from a script by Adam Cozad (“The Legend of Tarzan”) and Brian Duffield (“Insurgent,” “The Babysitter”). This is Eubank’s third directorial feature. His previous film, the sci-fi drama “The Signal,” starred Olivia Cooke, Laurence Fishbourne, Brenton Thwaites and Beau Knapp in a story with similar science based suspense as his latest. The filmmaker also has two more project son his slate, an action flick “TauTona” and “Count,” a modern take on Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale of “The Count Of Monte Cristo.”
Kristen Stewart leads the cast in the trailer, an underwater research voyage that takes a turn for the worse. Stewart impressed in Olivier Assayas’ 2016 film “Personal Shopper,” after starring in films such as “Adventureland,” “Café Society” and “The Runaways.” Just last year, she starred in “Lizzie” and “JT Leroy.” She can be seen in Elizabeth Banks’ upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” reboot out in November.
“Underwater” is produced and distributed by Twentieth Century Fox. It releases in theaters January 10, 2020.
