Apple TV have unveiled the first official trailer for its upcoming debut series “The Morning Show,” a news talk show drama starring Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon, Emmy winner Jennifer Aniston and Golden Globe winner Steve Carell.
“Executive-produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, who star alongside Steve Carell, ‘The Morning Show’ explores the high-stakes world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning. Told through the lens of two complicated women working to navigate the mine field of high-powered jobs while facing crises in both their personal and professional lives, ‘The Morning Show’ explores ego, ambition and the misguided search for power.”
Back in March, Apple held a special broadcast event where it announced its forthcoming Apple TV+ subscription package. The new streaming service is marketed as “where the most creative minds in TV and film tell the kinds of stories only they can.” The service will allow subscribers to access all new original shows and movies across any given genre. Other titles under the Apple TV, premiering in the fall, include projects from Oprah Winfrey, JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg. “The Morning Show” was still wrapping shooting when the Apple slate was announced.
Additional cast members on the show are Billy Crudup, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Néstor Carbonell, Mark Duplass, Bel Powley, Karen Pittman and Desean Terry. The series is directed by Mimi Leder (“On the Basis of Sex,” “The Leftovers”) with collaborations with David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada”) and Lynn Shelton (“Outside In,” “Sword of Trust”). The show is written by Kerry Ehrin, with the central story inspired by CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter’s 2013 book “Top of the Morning.”
“The Morning Show” is produced by Media Res, Echo Films and Hello Sunshine. It premieres on the Apple TV app with an Apple TV+ subscription in the fall.
