WATCH: First Trailer Released for Scott Cooper’s ‘Antlers,’ Produced by Guillermo Del Toro & Starring Keri Russell

Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for “Antlers,” the new horror film from director Scott Cooper (“Hostiles”) and producer Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”). The teaser reveals a chilling premise as a small town in Oregon is shook by a horrific secret kept mysteriously by a young student. The cast includes Keri Russell (“The Americans”), Jesse Plemons (“Game Night”), Jeremy T. Thomas, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane and Amy Madigan.

In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Cooper has directed a handful of projects to date. His directorial debut came with 2009’s Oscar-winning drama “Crazy Heart.” The feature, starring Jeff Bridges, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Colin Farrell, won two Academy Awards, for Bridges’ lead performance as a fading country musician, and for the original song, “The Weary Kind,” written and performed by Ryan Bingham. Gyllenhaal was a nominee that year for her supporting role. Cooper’s other films are “Out of the Furnace” starring Christian Bale, “Black Mass” and 2017’s “Hostiles.” Cooper switches the tempo a bit with a supernatural horror.

Del Toro is riding the producing wave as his other project, André Øvredal’s “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, is now playing in theaters. The Academy Award-winning director produces yet another creepy feature and Fox Searchlight looks to be having a ball with this new film among its other thrill of a time, “Ready or Not.”

The screenplay for “Antlers” is written by C. Henry Chaisson, Nick Antosca (“The Act”) and Scott Cooper, based upon the short story “The Quiet Boy,” by Antosca. “Antlers” is produced by del Toro, David Goyer and Miles Dale. It is produced and distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures, now owned by Disney, and is scheduled to be released in 2020. Check out the teaser and poster below.
