Twentieth Century Fox have released a new IMAX trailer for “Ad Astra,” starring Brad Pitt, Liv Tyler, Ruth Nega, Donald Sutherland and Tommy Lee Jones. “What did he find out there in the abyss?” asks Pitt’s character, astronaut Roy McBride. In search for the discovery his father (Lee Jones) met, Roy comes closer to the thing that threatens the entire solar system in James Gray‘s upcoming sci-fi odyssey.
Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
“The enemy up here is not a person or a thing. It’s the endless void,” says Sutherland’s character. The film’s technical prowess continues to wow with each new clip, pushing Gray’s film further into a visually satisfying movie experience ripe for the IMAX treatment.
Gray directs from a script co-written by Ethan Gross (“Fringe”). His past directorial efforts include “We Own the Night,” “Two Lovers,” “The Immigrant” and “The Lost City of Z.” His latest will feature a score by composer Max Richter (“Shutter Island,” “Mary Queen of Scots.” It will be shot by Oscar nominated “Dunkirk” cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, who is also shooting Christopher Nolan’s latest, “Tenet.”
“Ad Astra” is produced by New Regency Pictures and Plan B Entertainment with Twentieth Century Fox also distributing. It releases in theaters and in IMAX September 20.
