What’s On TV? – Wednesday (8/28/19) – Take Flight with ‘How to Train Your Dragon’

A gorgeous third chapter of an animated series makes its way to Hulu today. It’s one of the best animated films of the year so far, and a perfect choice for family movie night:

Pick of the Day:
“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (Hulu)

It’s easy for animated movies in any given year to stand in the shadow of a Pixar release. But “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,” and the whole series, earns its wide praise. The latest chapter is not unlike its two predecessors: funny, entertaining, gorgeous and heartfelt. Every frame of the movie is richly textured and a work of art, which is balanced with the right level of humor to keep the entire family invested in this saga.

Movies on TV:
“The Others” (STARZ) at 7:15 PM ET

Nicole Kidman had a great 2001, receiving her first Oscar nomination for “Moulin Rouge!” The musical was a Best Picture nominee that year, so it’s no surprise her wonderful performance was nominated. Some may argue her work in the ghost story “The Others” is the movie that should have brought her the nomination. Her performance as a mother, who must shield her children from sunlight, is one of the best roles of her towering career and one of the great modern ghost stories put on screen.
