Columbia Pictures have released the first official trailer for “Bad Boys For Life,” which sees the rowdy reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as buddy cop detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett. The new sequel is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
“Ride together. Die Together.” The first trailer for “Bad Boys For Life” sees Mike and Marcus introduced to a new assignment in Miami. The sequel comes 25 years after the first film “Bad Boys” debuted in 1995, directed by Michael Bay. The film racked up over $141 million at the worldwide box office, sparking the follow up installment. Bay went on to direct the following sequel “Bad Boys ll,” which brought in over $273 million worldwide.
El Arbi and Fallah have in the past directed the thriller “Image,” the 2015 action drama “Black” and are slated to direct another long-gestating project, “Beverly Hills Cop 4.” Smith and Lawrence have remained active in their careers since the early “Bad Boys” films. Smith can be seen in Ang Lee’s upcoming “Gemini Man” October 11. Lawrence starred in the 2014 FX comedy series “Partner” opposite Kelsey Grammer. He was recently seen in Harmony Korine’s “The Beach Bum.”
“Bad Boys For Life” also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton and Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Nicky Jam and Joe Pantoliano. Chris Bremmer writes the script for the latest sequel, with drafts penned by writers Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan. Executive Producers are Doug Belgrad, Barry Waldman, Chad Oman and Mike Stenson.
“Bad Boys For Life” is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Columbia Pictures. It will be distributed domestically by Columbia Pictures and Sony. The film releases in theaters January 17, 2020.
