WATCH: New Trailer Released for Robert Eggers’ ‘The Lighthouse’

“Keeping secrets, are ye?” A24 have released a second eerie trailer for Robert Eggers“The Lighthouse,” starring Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.

The story follows two lighthouse keepers set amongst a New England island in the 1890s. While all may seem like a simple plot, the trailer goes sideways as it revels in psychological terrors and riffs between the two men. The new trailer is akin to the first, strangely pulling interest into what the two characters are going on about. Like with “The Witch,” Eggers’ horrors seem to manifest through the peculiar.

Dafoe recently starred as famous painter Vincent van Gogh in Julian Schnabel’s “At Eternity’s Gate,” for which he was nominated at the Oscars for Best Actor. He can be seen starring in Edward Norton’s “Motherless Brooklyn,” which is now on its path to close New York Film Festival. Pattinson has been churning out amazing performances in films like the Safdie brothers’ “Good Time” and in Claire Denis’ “High Life.” The actor is also set to star in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” in the titular role. Eggers writes the script with Max Eggers. He employs the cinematography of Jarin Blaschke, who shot “The Witch.”

A24 is the studio behind the Oscar-winning films “Moonlight” and “Ex Machina,” as well as “Lady Bird,” “Eighth Grade,” “The Witch” and “Hereditary.” The studio’s offerings this year include Lulu Wang’s “The Farewell,” Trey Edward Shults’ “Waves” and Joe Talbot’s “The Last Black Man in San Francisco.”

“The Lighthouse” is produced by RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira and Lourenço Sant’ Anna; Parts & Labor’s Jay Van Hoy; and Youree Henley. A24 will release the film October 18.
