Twentieth Century Fox have released a new full-length trailer for “The King’s Man,” directed by Matthew Vaughn. The film serves as a prequel to the previous two installments, “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle;” both directed by Vaughn.
As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.
“The King’s Man” explores the origin story of the secret and stylish intelligence agency working toward justice. The film stars Ralph Fiennes as Duke of Oxford, and Harris Dickinson as new recruit Conrad, a “fresh meat” filled by Taron Egerton in the previous films. The film also stars Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.
The franchise’s first two installments starred Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Taron Egerton. “The Kingsman: The Secret Service” was released in 2015 and opened to approximately $36 million domestically. It racked up over $128 million at the domestic box office and over $414 million worldwide. Its direct sequel, “The Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” was opened in 2017 to $39 million in its debut weekend, grossing over $100 million domestic and over $410 million in its worldwide stretch.
Vaughn reteams with writer Jane Goldman (“Kick-Ass”) on the new script, an adaptation of the comic book stories by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. His directorial debut came with “Layer Cake,” an action drama starring Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller. Vaughn went on to direct “Stardust,” “Kick-Ass” and “X-Men: First Class.”
“The King’s Man” is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox and will arrive in theaters February 14, 2020.
