Warner Bros have premiered the first trailer for “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.” The film, based on characters of the DC Comics, is directed by Cathy Yan and is adapted and written for the feature by Christina Hodson.
The “Birds of Prey” comics followed the global missions of a team of female characters who join forces; Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) , the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez). Ewan McGregor (“Doctor Sleep”) plays the antagonist role of Black Mask, while Chris Messina (“Sharp Objects”) stars as the deranged Victor Zsasz. The film takes place after the events of David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad,” where Harley Quinn left Joker and later finds herself enthralled in this new colorful mission with new faces in Gotham City.
“Birds of Prey” is Yan’s sophomore feature film, coming just a couple of years after her debut project, the comedy drama “Dead Pigs.” Yan has directed the shorts “According to My Mother,” “Down River” and “Last Night.” The teaser for “Birds of Prey” first began playing ahead of “It Chapter 2.” Now that the first full-length trailer has arrived, the fun and action pumped ride is here as Harley shines as her own in Yan’s new film.
Other films in the DC Entertainment and Warner Bros pool of content are the forthcoming “Joker,” starring Joaquin Phoenix entering the role of the notorious comic book villain, Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson, which recently had some casting buzz, and Patty Jenkins’ forthcoming “Wonder Woman 1984,” which is slated to begin marketing in the winter.
“Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” is produced by DC Entertainment. Warner Bros is distributing the film, which rolls into theaters February 7, 2020. Check out some of the film’s vibrant posters and the trailer below!
