On the agenda:

  • The hit television show “Downton Abbey” opened to a lot of money and talk about how the fans like it and how Maggie Smith looks prime bait for a Golden Globe and BAFTA nomination but will that translate to Best Picture?
  • Giving some more thoughts on “Ad Astra” and how it deserves an awards push despite the low audience scores.
  • Diving into the Oscar-hype for Jennifer Lopez and her work in “Hustlers” and if it is, in fact, real.
  • NEON is gearing up for a strong campaign for Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite.” It can begin to rack up nomination tallies as we begin to add up picture, director, supporting actor, original screenplay, editing, and perhaps sound categories, but will Oscar go for it?
  • Exploring our thoughts on Edward Norton’s “Motherless Brooklyn,” which screened for SAG members and Rupert Goold’s “Judy,” which is showing power for Renée Zellweger in Lead Actress.
  • What gives on Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” lately?  Can late releases such as “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” or still make an impact?
  • Is the Supporting Actress REALLY the weakest acting race?  We share our thoughts on the contenders and how the Academy won’t look in places they should for more viable options (i.e. Billie Lourd in “Booksmart” and Frances Conroy in “Joker“).
  • Speaking of “Joker,” Karen Peterson offers her initial thoughts while Clayton Davis does his best imitation of “Film Twitter.”
  • Animated Feature race has lots of room for movement with GKIDS releasing a bunch of possibilities.
  • LEJA (Latino Entertainment Journalists Association) announced its inaugural LEJA TV nominees where “Barry” led.
