What’s On TV? – Friday (10/11/19) – ‘El Camino’ Adds To The ‘Breaking Bad’ Saga

Another movie night takes form with a spin-off to one of the best television dramas of the millennium and the release of an indie-festival darling. So, snuggle up on the couch because Friday is booked with exciting films to explore.

Pick of the Day:

“El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” (Netflix)Aaron Paul in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)

The last time we saw Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), he was released from captivity and riding off to find his version of freedom. “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” picks up right after the events of the “Breaking Bad” series finale and finds Jesse on the run from the authorities. Marred by the decisions from his past, Jesse must find peace within himself and try to find some sort of life post-Heisenberg. Besides Paul, “Breaking Bad” series creator Vince Gilligan is back as writer-director, thus this new chapter of Jesse’s story should please fans and feel like a natural continuation of this beloved character.

Movies on TV:

“Little Monsters” (Hulu)Image result for little monsters

Screened earlier in the year at the Sundance Film Festival and South by Southwest, “Little Monsters” finally premieres for all to see on Hulu tonight. It follows Dave (Alexander England), a struggling musician who volunteers to chaperone his nephew’s kindergarten field trip to a petting zoo in order to woo the teacher, Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong’o). The petting zoo is located next to a secret government facility, where they are experimenting with bloodthirsty zombies. When the zombies break out, they set their sights on the petting zoo and Dave, Miss Caroline and the kids must survive the impending attack. Made in the vein of other horror-comedies like “Shawn of the Dead” and “Zombieland,” “Little Monsters” has a lot of fun while also having a lot of heart. Our own Karen Peterson saw this at Sundance and called it “one of the most unexpected delights” at the festival.
