WATCH: New Trailer For Scott Z. Burns’ ‘The Report,’ Starring Adam Driver & Annette Bening

Amazon Studios have unveiled the second trailer for “The Report,” a thrilling political drama directed by Scott Z. Burns. The film stars Academy Award nominees Adam Driver and Annette Bening, and Golden Globe winner Jon Hamm.

The Report is a riveting thriller based on actual events. Idealistic staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening) to lead an investigation of the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program, which was created in the aftermath of 9/11. Jones’ relentless pursuit of the truth leads to explosive findings that uncover the lengths to which the nation’s top intelligence agency went to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a brutal secret from the American public.

“The Report” bowed its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival this year, where it was quickly acquired by Amazon Studios for an awards-ripe distribution. The deal was sealed at $14 million.

Burns has worked alongside director Steven Soderberg on many projects. Burns wrote the script for “The Informant,” “Contagion,” “Side Effects” and Soderberg’s latest for Netflix, “The Laundromat.”

The cast also includes Sarah Goldberg, Michael C. Hall, Douglas Hodge, Fajer Kaisi, Ted Levine, Jennifer Morrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Linda Powell, Matthew Rhys, T. Ryder Smith, Corey Stoll, and Maura Tierney.

In the festival circuit, Burns’ film has made its way from Park City to London Film Festival. Some of the ground its covered include Toronto International Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival, and Mill Valley Film Festival.

Award Circuit’s Mark Johnson attended Telluride and reviewed the film, saying the film is “taut, astute, and holistically well-performed by one of the better ensembles we will likely see this year.”

“The Report” is distributed by Amazon Studios. It releases in selected theaters November 15 before it hits Amazon Prime on November 29.
