Netflix has unveiled a new poster and new trailer for their upcoming drama, “Marriage Story.”
The film tells the story of Charlie and Nicole, a couple who find themselves in the midst of a divorce after ten years together. Caught in the middle is their young son, Henry, as both sides try to navigate bi-coastal co-parenting.
Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson star as Charlie and Nicole. Driver began his career about ten years ago, appearing on TV and various films. His early work included parts in “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Lincoln,” and “Frances Ha,” but it was his role as Kylo Ren in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” that turned him into a big star. He has gone on to other notable roles in “Paterson” and “Silence.” Last year, Driver was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in “BlacKkKlansman.”
Scarlett Johansson began her career as a child actress in the 1990s. One of her most notable early roles came in Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation” in 2003. That film earned her a Golden Globe nomination and set her on a path to more leading work. She would go on to star in “In Good Company,” “The Black Dahlia,” and eventually land the coveted role of Black Widow in “Iron Man 2.” This year, Johansson also starred in “Avengers: Endgame,” and has a supporting role in Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit.”
“Marriage Story” premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in August, followed by a North American premiere at Telluride two days later. It has also played at TIFF, NYFF, LFF, and just last Sunday at the Hamptons International Film Festival. It is a selection this weekend at Middleburg Film Festival. Everywhere it goes, audiences have fallen in love with this emotionally wrought story.
The film also stars Laura Dern, Alan Alda, Ray Liotta, Julie Hagerty, Merritt Wever, Azhy Robertson, Wallace Shawn, Martha Kelly, and Mark O’Brien.
The new trailer gives a glimpse at the ups and downs and tumult of the breakdown of a marriage. For more information about this film, be sure to visit the official website: Netflix.com/MarriageStory
“Marriage Story” is produced and distributed by Netflix and will be in theaters December 6, followed by a global release on the streaming service.
