New York Women in Film & Television announced Monday that the 40th Annual NYWIFT Muse Awards will take place this year at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel on Tuesday, December 10th at 11:30AM EST. All honorees for this year’s ceremony will be announced at a later date.
The fundraising event is annual gala holiday luncheon that dedicates itself to celebrating women of vision and achievement in the film and television industry. Each year, women are honored with the prestigious award. The awards are attended by leading executives from every major studio, broadcast and cable network, and film production facility.
For 39 years, the NYWIFT gala has presented awards to spectacular women of the industry who move the business forward with precise vision. Last year, its honorees included Ellen Burstyn, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lisa Nishimura, Tricia Brock (Nancy Malone Directing Award) and Maysoon Zayid (Loreen Arbus Award).
Past honorees at the gala also include Laura Dern, Marie-Louise Parker, Gabourey Sidibe, Wanda Sykes, Tina Fey, Lee Grant, Annette Bening and Whoopi Goldberg.
NYWIFT also hold workshop events and screenings throughout the year. Some of this year’s offerings included their June summit on equality, inclusion and safety, selected presentations of experimental and animated works, special member screenings and seminars on documentary distribution.
Upcoming events hosted by NYWIFT include the member screening of “Ask For Jane” on Nov. 19 and the seminar on translating source materials to the screen on Nov. 22.
From 2017 to now, NYWIFT membership has reached an all-time high of 2,400.
