It’s finally here. ACCA 1990. It’s time. Our AwardsCircuit readers have been patient and with the relaunch of the site and fixing up some bugs within our registration system, our AwardsCircuit Community Awards for 1990 is now open.

What do you need to know for ACCA 1990?

  • The voting ballot has two locations. This post that you are currently reading (down below) and the new ACCA Voting Station.
  • You MUST be a registered AwardsCircuit member, and be logged in, to cast your ballot in both nominations and winner phases. You can do so either by clicking on the register button in the sidebar or the menu. Membership is FREE. So just do it!
  • In order for a film to be eligible, it must have had a United States release between January 1, 1990, and December 31, 1990. Many films are in play from Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” to Ivan Reitman’s “Kindergarten Cop.”
  • There are TWO ballots below. One that lists all the eligible films and performances we could find, and another for a “write-in” option if your choices are not present. You do NOT have to fill out both but you must fill out the first ballot, in order to fill out the second.
  • The full ACCA eligibility and rules are also listed below with active and eligible categories.
  • Nomination voting will remain open until Sunday, July 26 at 12:00 PM EST. The nominations will be announced on the Circuit Breaker! podcast that week.
  • We are also running a contest on who can RATE the most films, tv shows, and people in the month of July. Once you are logged into your account, go on a “rating spree” and let your voice and thoughts be heard on every facet of the Hollywood industry.

ACCA Motion Pictures & Television Eligibility & Rules

  • Feature-length motion pictures (minimum of 60 minutes in runtime) that have had a U.S. release, in any market during the qualifying year of January 1 to December 31.
  • ACCA is voted upon by the readership of The reader must have an active membership account in order to submit votes. Banned or suspended users cannot vote in the respective award year for either film.
  • ACCA member receives 10 selections in Best Motion Picture, and 6 selections in all other categories for the nomination phase. If a film or performance is NOT listed in a respective category, the member can submit their choice in the “Write-In” section. If a member submits a film or category that is already listed in the category, the vote will not count towards the nomination. The active categories are:
    • Best Motion Picture
    • Best Achievement in Directing
    • Best Actor in a Leading Role
    • Best Actress in a Leading Role
    • Best Actor in a Supporting Role
    • Best Actress in a Supporting Role
    • Best Original Screenplay
    • Best Adapted Screenplay
    • Best Cast Ensemble
    • Best Animated Feature
    • Best Production Design
    • Best Cinematography
    • Best Costume Design
    • Best Film Editing
    • Best Makeup and Hairstyling
    • Best Sound
    • Best Visual Effects
    • Best Original Score
    • Best Original Song
    • Best Documentary Feature
    • Best Foreign Language Film
  • When nominations are announced for any respective ACCA year, the member will vote for their winners in a preferential voting type manner, ranking their preferred choices from 1 to 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10, depending on the number of nominees in the category.
  • TV eligibility period runs from July 1 to June 30 of the year. A minimum of two episodes must have premiered on television prior to the June 30 cutoff. Active categories are:
    • Best Television Series
    • Best Episode of the Year
    • Best TV Movie
    • Best Talk or Variety Series
    • Best Actor in a Leading Role in a TV Series
    • Best Actress in a Leading Role in a TV Series
    • Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a TV Series
    • Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a TV Series
    • Best Writing in a TV Series
    • Best Direction in a TV Series
    • Best Host
    • Best Guest Actor in a TV Series
    • Best Guest Actress in a TV Series
    • Best Ensemble in a TV Series
    • Best Production Design in a TV Series
    • Best Cinematography in a TV Series
    • Best Costumes in a TV Series
    • Best Editing in a TV Series
    • Best Makeup and Hair in a TV Series
    • Best Sound in a TV Series
    • Best Visual Effects in a TV Series
    • Best Music in a TV Series
    • Best Documentary Series
    • Best Reality Series

Hmm I am having a dilemma. Personally I have only seen 18 movies from the year 1990. When I am doing a current year ballot I usually would like to see at least 100(but preferably more) movies in a given year, but since the voting is going to end towards the end of the month I am trying to figure out which movies I should watch and how many I could get done. At best I could do maybe like 60 movies the whole month, but I feel that is being optimistic. I guess I have no issue with putting… Read more »
