Adam Beach is joining Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike and Jesse Plemons in Scott Cooper’s “Hostiles.” He is reportedly joining in one of the lead roles.
Beach, who is appearing in August’s “Suicide Squad” as Slip Knot, will portray the role of Black Hawk, although further details were not given.
Per IMDB, the film is set in 1892 and follows a legendary Army captain (Bale) who reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne chief (Wes Studi) and his family back to tribal lands through dangerous territory. Along the way they encounter a widow (Pike) whose family was murdered on their own journey from New Mexico to Montana. Together the motley group must work together to handle the perilous landscape and Comanche tribes that threaten to end their journey.
According to Variety, Plemons’ character is tasked with helping the group reach their destination.
Cooper (“Black Mass”) is directing and writing the film. He is also producing alongside “Black Mass” producer John Lesher, as well as Ken Kao.
Beach is known for his roles as Ira Hayes in “Flags of Our Fathers,” Ben Yahzee in “Windtalkers,” and Charles Eastman in “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.” He most recently appeared in 2015’s “Diablo” with Scott Eastwood.
Plemons and Cooper previously worked together on “Black Mass.” “Hostiles” is also the first film since 2013’s “Out of the Furnace” that Bale and Cooper have worked on together.
“Hostiles” is aiming for a 2017 release.
Deadline was the first to report the news on Beach’s casting.
