AFI Fest: Interview with ‘Charlie Victor Romeo’ directors Robert Berger and Patrick Daniels

charlievictorromeo_posterGetting to talk shop with the creatives is one of the best parts of going to a film festival. Sure it’s nice to see the movies but rare is it that you have a chance, like I did this past Sunday when I spoke to Robert Berger and Patrick Daniels of Charlie Victor Romeo, to really dig into what it’s like to bring a project like this to life. The two directors sat down with me for about 30 minutes to talk about their heart racing new feature film and we spoke about everything from the difficulties of filming a live theater setting, straddling the lines of narrative and documentary, and how to upend audience expectations.
