British Independent Film Awards
American Honey

While critics groups such as the New York Film Critics Circle and Los Angeles Film Critics Association were doling out awards, across the pond, the British were doing the same. The British Independent Film Awards, held Sunday in London, honored the best in British indies. Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey” won big, with four awards including picture, director, cinematography and actress honors.

Dave Johns of “I, Daniel Blake” fame, also won Best Actor honors.

The only honor for overseas films, the International Independent Film award, went to Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight.”

Variety reports Hollywood stars such as Michael Fassbender, Jamie Dornan, Martin Freeman, Naomie Harris, Patrick Stewart and Danny Boyle made appearances at the awards. Jennifer Saunders also hosted the event.
