Link(s) of the week:
The big talk around the web this week centered around everyone’s final predictions before the nominations were announced on Thursday. Hindsight’s a bitch, so you can now look back and see how they all did: The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg, The Playlist’s Oliver Lyttelton, The Film Experience’s Nathaniel Rogers, Awards Daily’s Sasha Stone, Collider’s Adam Chitwood, Living in Cinema’s Craig Kennedy, Rope of Silicon’s Brad Brevet, and In Contention’s Gregory Ellwood, Guy Lodge, and Kris Tapley.
And then there were the posts on the reactions to the nominations…
Pete Hammond at Deadline feels that it is still a wide open race for Best Picture. Though I have no idea why Pete (and other pundits) keeps asking “Did these Best Picture nominees direct themselves?” in reference to the snubs for director. Last I checked, Haneke and Zeitlin’s films were ALSO Best Picture nominees.
Sasha Stone’s State of the Race looks over the nominees chances to win, now that we see where the chips fell.
Oliver Lyttelton has assembled a list of 30 Indie and Foreign Language films to keep an eye on this year.
