Awards Circuit Power Hour Episode 106: Voice-Acting Oscar Categories, Film Festivals, and Some Trivia

Our weekly podcast show for all things entertainment is heavy on the Oscar subject…

POWERHOUR_LOGO_NEW1Welcome to another edition of the Awards Circuit Power Hour, our weekly podcast diving deep into all things film, television, and entertainment.

We have a laid back week but with lots of fun in line with the podcast team.  We kicked off our “10 Greatest Performances of All-Time” series on Sunday which sparked lots of discussion and comments from the team and readers.  Is there a criteria to putting out a list?  We even get into the greatest vs. favorite debate for a little while, yet again.

We read a review given on our iTunes page, which prompts another announcement/plea to write us a review on iTunes.  We have two prizes for readers that write us a review, which will be drawn at random.  Please take a moment and write us one. :)

We discuss the big news of the week which includes David Fincher’s Gone Girl and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice playing at the New York Film Festival.  The Toronto lineup also announces on Tuesday which sparks lots of speculation about what film is going to play at what festival.

Sparked by last week’s piece on “An Unconventional Truth – Oscar Citing Hybrid Works” – We have an understanding discussion about voice performances and how they should be cited in the Academy.

Brought on by Michael Balderston’s Under the Circuit piece this week, why didn’t Meg Ryan ever translate to the Academy Awards stage?

Finally, we end with an Oscar Trivia game and a list of directors and their greatest works!
