BAFTA Sets Key Dates for 2019 Awards

Earlier this week we saw the Golden Globes stake claim to their awards season dates. The pure number of precursors requires many of the bigger shows to begin grabbing dates as soon as possible. Today, BAFTA joins the Globes with their list of date for their awards ceremony.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is one of the last big precursors that shines a light on the Oscar race. The last couple of years, awards given out to below-the-line contenders here helped decide the Oscar race. “Blade Runner 2049” took frontrunner status in Visual Effects after winning the BAFTA prize. The same could be said for “Hacksaw Ridge” after it won editing.
