Ben Affleck and Gavin O’Connor Are Making a Sequel to ‘The Accountant’

In our review last year of the Ben Affleck action film “The Accountant,” we called it the sort of movie that will have a long life playing on cable. Well, that likely will be true (it’s currently on HBO though, so not TNT just yet), but first it seems that it will become part of a franchise. A sequel is brewing with most of the main players working out deals to return. You wouldn’t beg this one for a series, but original ideas are hard to come by, so this almost counts as one at this point. Plus, considering how it made some solid bank on a fairly responsible budget, perhaps this was inevitable news?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck is in talks to return to the title role, with director Gavin O’Connor and scribe Bill Dubuque right behind him. A piece over at Deadline speculates about co-star Jon Bernthal coming back for a central part but makes no mention of Anna Kendrick, so we’ll see about that. It’s early days still, as no plot is in place or anything of the sort. Affleck was pretty good in the film, so if it doesn’t just double down on action, this could work. Stay tuned for more…
