boyhood still

boyhood_stillActors search for roles that will challenge them, allow them to grow both professionally, and that will make a mark on cinema. So by all accounts, Ellar Coltrane seems to have landed the holy grail of parts with his starring role in Boyhood. Filming the movie in short periods over 12 years allowed Coltrane to grow not only as an actor, but as a person, as much of this movie is imbued with his real life feelings and emotional state. I sat down with Coltrane to talk about the unique experience of working on this film. We covered everything from his favorite haircuts to the transience of time to what he thinks his character Mason would be doing right now. Enjoy!
