CinemaCon on Tueday featured an exclusive Paramount Pictures presentation to highlight their 2017 summer and beyond films – with stars, Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Jon Bass and Kelly Rohrbach from “Baywatch”; Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael from “Transformers: The Last Knight”; Alexander Payne and Matt Damon from “Downsizing”; and George Clooney, Matt Damon and Julianne Moore from “Suburbicon” – all in attendance.
According to reports, the “Baywatch” panel included extensive footage from the upcoming film. In one particularly shocking moment, Johnson’s character tells Efron’s character at a morgue that he has to check out a cadaver’s penis. Per THR, the moment made the audience gasp. The rest of the footage reportedly was well received, too. The film hits theaters May 26.
The “Transformers” portion featured footage from the fifth installment in the franchise. It reportedly featured Bay’s signature action, a first look at Anthony Hopkins’ character and even some Transformers in Medieval England. “Transformers: The Last Knight” is slated for June 23.
“Suburbicon,” George Clooney’s latest directorial effort, debuted its first trailer as well. THR described the footage from the film, which has been given an awards season release of Nov. 3, as the following:
The upcoming film, set for release on Nov. 3, has a script by the Coen Brothers, and the first footage showed off their signature quirkiness paired with a dark and violent tone.
‘Suburbicon’s’ first trailer shows Moore as a picturesque blonde housewife who is being asked questions by an investigator (Oscar Isaac). The questions relate to a life insurance policy, and Isaac’s character is suspicious about the death it involves. Damon plays a bespectacled, buttoned-up man whose wife appears have to died in a crime, but there’s more to the story than he’s telling. The trailer gets progressively more violent, including a car bursting into flames while Damon’s character rides off on a kid’s tricycle.
In “Downsizing,” Matt Damon stars as a guy who realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself. A reported 10 minutes of the film screened at the event. The dramedy hits theaters Dec. 22, and also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Christoph Waltz and many more.
