M. Night Shyamalan and Universal Pictures today revealed the official poster for the upcoming film, “Glass.”
The film completes a long-rumored but still unexpected trilogy that includes “Unbreakable” from 2000 and “Split,” which hit theaters early in 2017.
“Unbreakable” introduced Bruce Willis as David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, aka Mr. Glass. Fifteen years later, “Split” gave us James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crumb and Barry and Patricia and Dennis and Hedwig, as a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder. We also met Anya Taylor-Joy‘s Casey, one of his would-be sacrifices to The Beast.
It turned out that both of those stories exist in the same world. In fact, a child named Kevin actually appears in a scene in “Unbreakable,” and Shyamalan has confirmed that is the same Kevin we meet in “Split.”
“Glass,” which hits theaters in January 2019, merges those characters into a third chapter.
In addition to revealing the poster today, the writer/director also made an announcement on Twitter about “Glass” heading to this month’s San Diego Comic Con:

A lot of fans are very excited for “Glass.” Many considered “Split” a return to form for the director who also gave us films like “The Sixth Sense” and “Signs.”
It will be interesting to see what Shyamalan has in store. When last we saw David and Elijah, they parted under intense circumstances. David’s marriage was teetering on the brink of divorce, and we never saw the full realization of his heroic talents. At the moment, we don’t know if David’s wife, Audrey (Robin Wright) or son Joseph (Spencer Treat Clark) will return. Neither of them is confirmed for “Glass.”
We also don’t know what, exactly, became of young Casey at the end of “Split.” Now that Kevin is on the run, what does that mean for her?
All of those questions will be revealed in just eight more months.
