CHECK OUT: Nathalie Emmanuel Leads Mindy Kaling’s ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ Series in First Trailer

Hulu has revealed the first trailer for the romantic comedy series, “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” a refreshing take on Mike Newell’s 1994 film of the same name starring Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant. Under writer and creator Mindy Kaling (“Late Night”), and with her “The Mindy Project” producer Matt Warburton, the story that once centered on the bachelor of Grant’s character now hones its adaptation on female lead Nathalie Emmanuel. After HBO’s “Game of Thrones” came to an end earlier this year, Emmanuel gets to savor the goodness of a sweet romcom series under an Emmy nominated star.

Official synopsis:

Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course there are four weddings… and a funeral.

Newell’s romcom has become a staple of the respective genre. It garnered an impressive $52.7 million in the US, from a decent $4 million budget. Kaling, who stars opposite Emma Thompson in Amazon’s “Late Night,” has demonstrated a knack for comedy over the years, having been recognized for her writing on NBC’s “The Office” and Hulu’s own successful series, “The Mindy Project.”
