CHECK OUT: New Character Posters for ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’

Paramount Pictures unveiled new character posters for the highly anticipated “Mission: Impossible— Fallout.”

Each poster highlights one of the film’s central characters. The newest “M:I” film is the first direct sequel to a previous installment. This time, the Impossible Mission Force finds itself facing catastrophic consequences for mistakes from the past, and they face a formidable foe.

Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt, one of IMF’s most valuable spies. Hunt’s specialty is his mastery of disguise. This is Cruise’s sixth appearance as Ethan. While the first film was adapted from the popular 1960s TV series, Ethan Hunt was created for the films.

For “Fallout,” Ethan faces an enemy from the past. Sean Harris was introduced in “Rogue Nation” as Solomon Lane, leader of the Syndicate. The Syndicate was a key adversary in the TV show, but did not become part of the film franchise until the fifth movie.

Rebecca Ferguson also reprises a role introduced in “Rogue Nation.” She is super spy Ilsa Faust, a perfect foil to Hunt. She is lethal, and her loyalties are questionable.

Ving Rhames is Luther Stickell, the only other character to appear in all six “M:I” films. Calling Luther a computer genius is an understatement.

Simon Pegg returns for the fourth time as Benji Dunn. He is sometimes the man behind the computer, and sometimes out in the field helping with very dangerous tasks.

Alec Baldwin also joined the franchise in “Rogue Nation.” He is Alan Hunley, Director of the CIA.

Angela Bassett, Henry Cavill, and Vanessa Kirby are newcomers to the franchise. How they figure into the story remains to be seen, although Bassett and Cavill, at least, appear to work for the CIA.

“Mission: Impossible—Fallout” is in theaters July 27.
