Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet” is finally generating more insight. It stars “BlacKkKlansman” lead John David Washington. An official first look pair of images were released from Entertainment Weekly Wednesday morning.
From the EW exclusive:
“We’re crossing a few different genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way. [Producer] Emma [Thomas] and I have put together a lot of large-scale productions, but this is certainly the biggest in terms of international reach. We shot in seven countries, all over the place, with a massive cast and huge set pieces. There’s no question, it’s the most ambitious film we’ve made.”
In August, the teaser trailer to Nolan’s film debuted in select preview screenings ahead of “Hobbs & Shaw.” “It’s time for a new protagonist,” the teaser read, accompanied by Washington running his hands over identical bullet holes on glass. In the EW exclusive, the two images feature Washington and Robert Pattinson and Washington with Elizabeth Debicki. A six-minute prologue to the film has been debuting in IMAX screenings ahead of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
“He’s an athlete and pretty hard for anybody to keep up with, including the different vehicles we shot him from — cars and helicopters. [Laughs] This guy moves,” Nolan says on working with Washington. The cast of “Tenet” also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Dimple Kapadia and Michael Caine.
Nolan is a five-time Academy Award nominee, recognized for hos work in directing “Dunkirk,” “Memento” and “Inception.” He has also helmed “Interstellar,” “TThe Prestige” and “The Dark Knight.” He has been known to release IMAX prologues of his films ahead of huge tentpole films. This is surely enough to hold Nolan fans over until summer of next year for the filmmaker’s next venture.
“Tenet” is distributed by Warner Bros and set to release in theaters July, 17, 2020.
