Annapurna Pictures has unveiled the official first look at Nicole Kidman in the upcoming film, “Destroyer” (pictured above).

From the studio:

Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.

Curiosity is high for this film, which will premier at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

The Oscar-winning star of “The Hours” took a brief foray into television as she currently stars on HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” But she never strays too far from the big screen. She recently starred in the independent film “How to Talk to Girls at Parties,” and will appear this awards season in “Boy Erased” and “Aquaman.”

Starring alongside Kidman is Sebastian Stan, Tony Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford, Jade Pettyjohn, and Scoot McNairy.

Karyn Kusama directs this crime drama. Her previous directorial credits include “Jennifer’s Body,” which has recently been the recipient of newfound appreciation. She also directed episodes of “Casual,” “The Man in the High Castle,” and “Billions.”

Writers Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi co-wrote the script for “Destroyer.” The pair previously wrote the “Ride Along” movies, “Æon Flux,” and “The Invitation.”

“Destroyer” will be in theaters on December 25, 2018.
