‘Child 44’ starring Tom Hardy is now a 2015 release

Child 44 Movie (1)I’m not sure how many of you were looking to Child 44 as a potential awards vehicle this year, but now we can safely mark it off of the 2014 calendar entirely. Lionsgate has announced that the thriller will hit theaters on April 17, which is in 2015, obviously. Daniel Espinosa‘s flick stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Gary Oldman, Joel Kinnaman, Jason Clarke, and Vincent Cassel, so the cast is very solid, I’ll say that. It’s just a film not hitting for almost a year. You can see a little bit more below on the change, but that’s basically that for this one. Child 44 is a movie coming out in 2015 now. Maybe it’s still worthy of Oscar consideration, but we can put off that conversation until the next awards season entirely…

Here’s the story from Variety:

Lionsgate will open the thriller “Child 44,” starring Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace, on April 17 in the U.S.

Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Vincent Cassel also star in the thriller, directed by Daniel Espinosa from a script by Richard Price. Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer and Greg Shapiro produced.

The story, set in Stalinist Russia, centers on a senior member of the secret police framed by a colleague for treason and exiled to a remote outpost, where he unearths a series of mysterious murders and vows to catch the elusive killer.

“Child 44″ opens against Sony’s “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2″ and Focus’ sci-fier “Selfless.”
