On the agenda:

  • Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.  Wishing all our listeners the most fabulous and joyous holiday, no matter who you are spending it with.
  • Going through the Academy Awards shortlists that were announced for Documentary Feature, Original Score, Original Song, Makeup and Hairstyling, Visual Effects, and all of the shorts.  What films were given a boost in the major categories?  What were the big misses and omissions?
  • New films opened this weekend including “Welcome to Marwen” from Robert Zemeckis, “Mary Poppins Returns” from Rob Marshall, and “Aquaman” from James Wan.  Sharing some quick thoughts.
  • What film are you predicting to be the nomination leader on Oscar morning?  Can “Black Panther” really go as high as 13 Oscar nominations and how many will it be winning if it’s that much?  This generates a discussion if “Black Panther” could go the way of “The Color Purple” and “The Turning Point,” or worse yet, blowing out their record for Oscar’s biggest losers.
