On the agenda:
- The AwardsCircuit TV Team that includes Editor-in-Chief Clayton Davis, along with contributing writers Christopher James, Alan French, and in her debut episode Jessica White, come together to digest the television awards landscape that was laid out earlier this week with the 2019 Emmy Nominations.
- HBO’s “Game of Thrones” leads the charge with a record-breaking 32 citations from the TV Academy but other shows “overperformed” including Prime Video’s “Fleabag” and Netflix’s “When They See Us,” with others “underperforming” including HBO’s “Veep” and Prime Video’s “Homecoming.”
- Acting contenders have revealed themselves in the landscape, and it has possibly made frontrunners emerge such as like Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Jared Harris (“Chernobyl”), Michelle Williams (“Fosse/Verdon”), Bill Hader (“Barry”), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Olivia Colman (“Fleabag”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Julia Garner (“Ozark”), Paul Dano (“Escape at Dannemora”), and Patricia Clarkson (“Sharp Objects”).
- We know “frontrunners” are never that simple, which leads us into where everyone stands this far out.
