Circuit Breaker Episode 41: 1993 Retrospective, Emmy Predictions, and Circuit Madness Finale Results

Welcome to the Awards Circuit podcast titled “CIRCUIT BREAKER!,” a weekly podcast from featuring host Clayton Davis along with panelists Sam Coffey, Mark Johnson and Joey Magidson. We discuss movies, television and all the awards shows that need predicting. New episodes are released every Monday. Find us on Twitter at @Circuit_Pod, email us at [email protected], and submit your comments and questions at the bottom of the episode.

On the agenda:

  • We finally wrap the Circuit Madness tournament naming the single best Oscar-winning score of all-time.  Facing off is “Star Wars” by John Williams against “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” by Howard Shore.  Which composer takes it all?
  • Continuing to celebrate ACCA 1993 (click here to register and vote) we do an entire retrospective of the year.  Talking about the highest grossing films of the year and the time in which many of the films take place.
  • We are entering the thick of the Emmy season and we go through the top categories: Best Drama Series (what takes the thrown from “Game of Thrones” since it isn’t eligible?), Best Comedy Series (is it time for “Silicon Valley” to get its moment on stage?), and Best Limited Series (is there anything that can beat “Big Little Lies?”).
  • We also have questions from our readers to answer.
