Welcome to the Awards Circuit podcast titled “CIRCUIT BREAKER!,” a weekly podcast from AwardsCircuit.comfeaturing host Clayton Davis along with panelists Sam Coffey, Mark Johnson, Joey Magidson, and Karen Peterson. We discuss movies, television and all the awards shows that need predicting. New episodes are released every Monday.

Find us on Twitter at @Circuit_Pod, email us at [email protected], and submit your comments and questions at the bottom of the episode.

On the agenda:

  • An in-depth talk about the new horror film “It” with Bill Skarsgard.  What did we think of the film?  What could it mean for the horror franchise?  Is it making studio executives consider a 3-part series, instead of 2?
  • The embargo lifts for “Battle of the Sexes” with Emma Stone and Steve Carell.  Is it a potential Best Picture winner?
  • The Toronto International Film Festival is underway and we weigh in with our thoughts on the Oscar chances on the following films: “I, Tonya” with Margot Robbie and Allison Janney, “mother!” with Jennifer Lawrence, “Call Me By Your Name” with Armie Hammer, “The Shape of Water” with Sally Hawkins, “The Florida Project” with Willem Dafoe, “Molly’s Game” with Jessica Chastain, “On Chesil Beach” with Saoirse Ronan, and the animated “Loving Vincent.”

  1. Man I was just waiting for that super incriminating comment dropped during the podcast warm up, or better, for Clayton to just drop an oh shit

  2. Question: does I Tonya take the interest off Goodbye Christopher Robin? The main appeal for the latter seemed to be that it could be a vehicle for Robbie, but it Tonya can be that vehicle instead less people look out for Robin? Or do you think Robin is baity enough on its own merits

  3. Is there a way that when posting the Podcast, you can call out the time codes on when spoilers are going to talked about? This would be helpful to anyone who hasn’t seen a film, but still wants to enjoy the podcast!

  4. At this point, which of these doubles is more likely to present the Best Director Oscar?

    Cuarón and Inarritu
    Tom Hardy and Michael Cane
    Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep

  5. Guys, you already discussed Good Time wouldn’t contend even with all the high praise, but as people declare a weak best actor race, do you think Pattinson can get in? All of His cittaions bring up Oscar worthy or at list a nomination.
