Circuit Q&A – Favorite Musicians-Turned-Actors

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**

Today marks what would be Elvis Presley‘s birthday. The King would have been 84-years-old on this day. In addition to being a legendary musician, he also had a notable acting career. That provides the inspiration for our latest Q&A session. What we’d like to know is which other musicians who turned to acting are some of your favorites?

Historically, there’s a long line of musicians who turned to acting to grow their careers to an even higher point. Presley never became as big an actor as he was a musical star, but some have come close. In the case of Barbra Streisand, for example, she also became a highly regarded filmmaker. She not only conquered the acting world, winning an Academy Award in the process for “Funny Girl,” but for a long time was seen as the most powerful female director in Hollywood. Frank Sinatra also became an Oscar winner for “From Here to Eternity,” on top of dominating the music scene. This is just scratching the surface.

This year, Lady Gaga may very well win an Academy Award (or two) for her turn in Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born,” the perfect marriage of acting and music. She’s in the rare air of musicians who are also now big-time movie stars. Other musicians who have made a strong career in film include Common, Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, and Mark Wahlberg to name a few. In most of these non-Gaga cases, their acting resumes are more impressive than their musical ones.

We put this question to you all now. On Elvis’ birthday, who are your favorite musicians who also have an acting career? Let us know!
