Circuit Q&A: What Were Your Favorite SAG Winners?

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**

The most celebratory of the Guilds, the Screen Actors Guild is a full on awards show that’s televised and everything. That gives SAG a leg up on the other Guild prizes, in terms of exposure. Over the years, they’ve given some very cool winners, not always lining up with the Academy Awards. Today, we’re going to ask which of those have been your top choices to date.

In terms of prior SAG winners, Best Ensemble has some of their most interesting choices. Of course, many of you will be all about the “Black Panther” win, and rightly so. The same could be said of “The Birdcage,” “Hidden Figures,” and “Inglourious Basterds.” When the Screen Actors Guild goes in an unexpected direction, that’s when the real fun begins. These didn’t translate to Oscar, and sometimes didn’t even come close, but shocking endings during Phase Two of the awards season is never a bad thing.

Perhaps it’s one of the solo winners that does it for you? SAG sometimes coronates the expected four contenders, but that’s not always the case. Who knows, maybe you’re partial to the newest crop of victors we just saw rewarded over the weekend? That’s a totally valid take on things too. Recency bias isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If the four acting winners and new Best Ensemble recipient is what does it for you most, lean in to that!

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 300 and 350 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

Ben

First winner that came to mind is from the TV side, Jason Bateman for Ozark. Well deserved.
Others from film are, Daniel Day Lewis for Gangs of New York and Ruby Dee for American Gangster.
