Circuit Q&A – What Are M. Night Shyamalan’s Best Films?

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**

Few auteurs have had more of a rollercoaster career than the one M. Night Shyamalan is having. A wonder-kid thought to be the next Steven Spielberg, he then hit the skids for a while. Then, his turn towards smaller horror/thrillers brought him back to the big times, notably with “Split.” Now, with the sequel “Glass” opening this week, we want to know what your favorite Shyamalan film is? There’s plenty to choose from, that’s for sure.

If you’re an Oscar voter, the obvious answer is probably “The Sixth Sense.” Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, it was a true sensation. Shyamalan himself received two nominations, in Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. They’re well-deserved citations too, as the work is impeccably done. His signature twists would become much debated in the years to follow, but at the time, it was perfection. Nothing Shyamalan has done has caught on with the zeitgeist like this did.

Considering how it’s directly responsible for “Glass,” maybe you’re partial to “Unbreakable?” A porto-superhero story, it was fairly ahead of its time. Shyamalan turned “Split” into a backdoor sequel to “Unbreakable,” leading to where we are now with “Glass.” If you’re anything like him, you’re likely a big fan of the story as well. If not, perhaps something like “Signs” or “The Village” does it for you? They certainly have more than their fair share of fans.

Shyamalan has an interesting filmography, so we’re eager to know which of his movies you’re partial to. Could it even be one of his lesser ones? Let us know!
