A very happy birthday goes out today to Reese Witherspoon, who is 43 years old. The Oscar winner has just as much clout as a producer as she does an actress in Hollywood, making her a true double threat. In paying tribute to her on this day, we want to focus on her acting. Which of her performances have been your absolute favorite so far?
Witherspoon won the Academy Award for Best Actress when she portrayed June Carter Cash in the Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line.” Her performance was tremendous, rightly getting her that statue. She was also nominated a few years ago for another biopic, this time scoring a nod in Actress for playing the lead Cheryl Straid in “Wild.” That nom didn’t translate into a win, but it was another strong effort from the talented actress.
Other terrific Witherspoon performances include her acclaimed breakthrough turn in “Election,” along with the likes of “Fear,” “Inherent Vice,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Mud.” Don’t forget about her small performance in “American Psycho” either, which was one of the first times she popped up on the cinematic radar. She hasn’t been too prolific of late in front of the camera, but she’s still a definite A-lister. In fact, it’s not a stretch to suggest that the best is yet to come for her.
In honor of her birthday, what are your favorite Reese Witherspoon roles? If one strikes your fancy in particular, let us know. We’re all ears!
