Circuit Q&A – What Are Cinema’s Most Shocking Twist Endings?

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances.**

In this current climate, it feels like twists and turns are always happening. With each passing day, there’s some sort of reveal regarding the coronavirus pandemic. In the movies, however, things aren’t much different. There are various shocking film twists that have stood the test of time. For the latest Circuit Q&A, we’ll be diving into the ones that made us gasp the loudest.

The Empire Strikes Back” is easily chief among them. The original “Star Wars” trilogy was about combating the villainous Darth Vader. But when Vader uttered four famous words to young Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), that sent Luke’s character arc on an immediate tailspin. He must end Darth Vader’s reign, yet how could he face his own father?

Speaking of famous lines, “Damn you all to Hell!” from “Planet of the Apes” is quite a pop culture mainstay. The picture follows a group of scientists who land on a mysterious planet inhabited by talking monkeys. But when George (Charlton Heston) sees a destroyed Statue of Liberty, he realizes this planet is Earth and angrily utters those aforementioned words.

The Sixth Sense” not only had a surprise ending, but started the expectation of big twists in M. Night Shyamalan’s filmography. The twist in “The Sixth Sense” still has the most staying power. The picture follows Cole (Haley Joel Osment) and his ability to talk to ghosts. That’s when Dr. Crowe (Bruce Willis) decides to help him only to realize he’s been dead the entire movie.

The Others,” another ghost story, is enshrouded in similar mystery. As Grace (Nicole Kidman) tries conditioning her children, her pattern of behavior becomes more and more suspect. As Grace starts believing her house is haunted, we eventually learn she and her children are the ghosts they’ve been seeking.

Because those are just a few examples of shocking cinematic revelations, we’ll now toss things off to you. Be sure to share which endings had your jaws dropping on the floor.
