Circuit Q&A – What Will Be the Next Hot Cinematic Trend?

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**

Any good idea in Hollywood is immediately copied. We know this already. Studio executives are more than happy to run something into the ground. We’ve seen it happen more or less since cinema got its start. Today, instead of just letting the suits pick the next tend, we want to put it to you. Yes, it’s your choice. If you could choose the next hot cinematic trend, what would it be?

One of the notable trends that Hollywood fell in love with was giant astroid movies. The one-two punch of “Armageddon” and “Deep Impact” was a moment that we all remember. They took different tones and went for different audiences, but they clearly both had similar elevator pitches. While we sometimes see actors or actresses wind up in a bunch of projects in one year, this is a whole other ball of wax.

Another trend that swept the industry was movies about giant volcanos. Of course, one was straight up called “Volcano,” while “Dante’s Peak” also hit on that concept. We haven’t quite seen any natural disaster type trends dominate the movies in a while, so we’re probably due for another one soon. Anyone else wonder what the trend will end up being?

Put yourself in the chair of a big time studio executive. Here’s what we want to know today, newfound power player. What would you like to see sweep Hollywood as the next big trend? Let us know!

When he’s not obsessing over new Oscar predictions on a weekly basis, Joey is seeing between 300 and 350 movies a year. He views the best in order to properly analyze the awards race/season each year, but he also watches the worst for reasons he mostly sums up as "so you all don't have to". In his spare time, you can usually find him complaining about the Jets or the Mets. Still, he lives and dies by film. Joey's a voting member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
