**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**

It has been ten years since the release of one of Seth Rogen’s mid-career films, the hilarious “Observe and Report” which came out on April 10, 2009. Rogen plays a mall cop working to solve the case of a man who has been flashing—and terrorizing—shoppers. We’re seizing the opportunity to take a look at Seth Rogen’s masterful body of work. He’s a current king of comedy, possessed with both commercial and indie appeal.

Early Career

The Vancouver born comedian got his start early, booking a leading role in the cult favorite show “Freaks and Geeks” in 1999, playing the witty Ken Miller. Despite little commercial succession, “Freaks and Geeks” helped pave the way for Rogen’s prolific career—and the beginning of his creative partnership with Judd Apatow. From there, he played Ron Garner—and was a staff writer—in the Apatow helmed show “Undeclared.” It also lasted just one season and gained a cult status.

“Frat Pack”

2004 was a crucial year for Rogen. He became a staff writer on the Sacha Baron Cohen-led “Da Ali G Show,” for which he shared an Emmy nomination and had a part in “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” (2004). The following year, he had a part in the acclaimed film, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and cemented his status as a member of Apatow’s “frat pack.” Thus joining the ranks of Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Luke and Owen Wilson, and Vince Vaughn.

2007 saw the release of the buddy comedy “Knocked Up,” starring Rogen and Katherine Heigl. “Superbad,” the film that Rogen famously co-wrote as a teenager with classmate Evan Goldberg, released that year to great commercial and critical succession. He played a role in “Kung Fu Panda” (and the sequel). Rogen had a starring role in the stoner comedy “Pineapple Express.”

In 2008 he played Zack in the comedy “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” alongside Elizabeth Banks. The following year heralded the release of “Observe and Report” as well as Judd Apatow’s “Funny People,” which Rogen stars in with Leslie Mann and Adam Sandler.

He wrote and starred in Michel Gondry’s remake of “The Green Hornet.” He performed in “Paul” (2011), the drama “Take This Waltz” (2011), the dark comedy “50/50” (2011). Rogen made his 2011 debut as ”Dirty Randy” in the show “The League.”

He made his directorial debut in “This is the End,” (2013) the star-studded apocalyptic satire, poking fun at Hollywood self-absorption. He co-directed “The Interview” (2014) with Evan Goldberg, a highly controversial film that got pulled from theaters across the US. It tells the story of two journalists embarking on a trip to Pyongyang to interview. They are eventually recruited by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong Un.

Rogen had a starring role as the curmudgeonly new parent in “Neighbors” (2014) and Steve Wozniak in Sorkin’s “Steve Jobs” (2015). Rogen co-wrote and starred in “Sausage Party” (2016), playing the titular character of “Frank,” the star hot dog.

More recently, Rogen played a script supervisor in “The Disaster Artist” (2017), and the love interest to Kristen Bell in “Like Father” (2018).

What’s next?

long shot

Rogen will star as a journalist spending time with a former babysitter-turned-Secretary-of-State and now a presidential candidate in “Long Shot.” It releases on May 3rd. He will also play Pumbaa in the upcoming live-action remake of “The Lion King,” which will be released in July.
