Digital Circuit: Honest Trailers do their own “Batman vs. Superman”

Welcome to Digital Circuit! A new roundup of the funniest TV and film related viral videos to hit the internet this week. Every Friday, we’ll collect some of the most interesting and talk-worthy videos for you to find, all in one place.

Let’s check out some of the highlights:

To ‘celebrate’ (?) the release of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Honest Trailers double dipped in content with two videos to choose from. Actually, they want you to watch them both and decide which one is better in the spirit of Zack Snyder’s new film. First up is Tim Burton’s Batman, which is at its best when it’s highlighting the awkward amount of extended laughs from Jack Nicholson and screams from Kim Basinger. It gets ridiculous when put together.

Then they did Christopher Reeve’s Superman, ostensibly because they most likely already covered Nolan and Singer’s film along with Man of Steel. Our familiar narrator defends the movie through his nostalgia goggles but it’s hard not to find the film has dated after nearly 40 years. Funniest observation is what exactly Lois Lane is doing at work. I think the Batman video was better, but it has more ripe material. On the videos the views say Superman, the likes say Batman, what do you say?

The Graham Norton Show YouTube channel released a compilation of recent celebrity impersonations and accents. It includes Jamie Foxx’s cockney accent, Ryan Reynold’s trailer voice and home Canadian accent, Seth MacFarlane singing Cyndi Lauper in Family Guy voices and Tom Hiddleston doing Graham Norton. Benedict Cumberbatch steals the montage with his own rendition of Norton on top of his well known Chewbacca impression.

A devoted Oscar fan pooled together all the Best Picture announcements that are available on YouTube – which includes all the winners down to 1948’s Hamlet without a gap, even though they didn’t start broadcasting the ceremony until 1953. It’s fascinating to see the moment where history was made and who presented which Best Picture. Interestingly enough, the 2000s is the most fun decade to watch with Spielberg’s Return of the King ‘clean sweep,’ Nicholson’s infamous reaction to Crash and Diane Keaton’s enthusiasm for The Departed.
