Digital Circuit: Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani take on “Carol” and “Room” for the Indie Spirits

Welcome to Digital Circuit! A new roundup of the funniest TV and film related viral videos to hit the internet this week.  Every Friday, we’ll collect some of the most interesting and talk-worthy videos for you to find, all in one place.

Let’s check out some of the highlights:

For hosting the 2016 Independent Spirit Awards, unlikely comedic duo Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani spoofed a scene from Carol and the first half of Room and together they’re better than expected. Kate nails Blanchett’s Carol (no, not in that way) while Rooney Mara is superimposed from the diner scene. It’s a clever satire to the naivety of the situation and the era.

And their rendition of Room is even better. Freeing themselves from the limitations and awkward pauses of a single scene, the parody of Room covers the capture and escape with all the bonding in between. Kumail’s version of Jacob Tremblay is a treat and the highlight is where Kate wraps him up in the rug.

This re-cut trailer for Straight Outta Compton (make that Straight Out Of Compton) imagines the awards campaign it should have used to get it more Oscar nominations – frame it entirely around Paul Giamatti as the pioneer. It shows all the scenes with his character sticking his neck out for the group as the music swells and gives him credit. Best moment is where it shows him giving them the idea for F- the Police.

Deleted Scene from “Batman v Superman” Starring Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel’s annual post-Oscar show heavily featured the upcoming Batman vs. Superman – though the best reveal was Matt Damon under Ben Affleck’s shirt – and they even went to lengths to recreate the Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne encounter from the trailer, complete with a Lex Luthor appearance, as Kimmel accidentally reveals their alter egos. Highlight is a cameo from Will Arnett, otherwise known as Lego Batman.
