Don’t Look for Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ until 2016

knight-of-cups-cate-blanchett-christian-baleFolks, we basically have our first bump from 2015 to 2016, and I have to say that it’s less than surprising to find it involves Terrence Malick. Yes, reports have Knight of Cups being a 2016 release now, presumably pushing back all of Malick’s other projects another year or so. Basically, instead of hoping that the muted response to the film industry set drama at the Berlin Film Festival would turn into heavy praise by the end of this year, in turn making it an awards player, the plan now is to put it out next year and hope for the best. This sounds a lot like what happened with To the Wonder, which isn’t a good thing, if you ask me, at least. Regardless, I happen to be pretty curious about this one, which stars Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman, among others. Stay tuned for more on Knight of Cups next year, as it’s no longer in the 2015 conversation. Maybe it can contend for Oscars next time around? We shall see what happens.
