Facebook launches new app, YEAH, for movie lovers

One of the great things about advances in movies and technology is that it allows for a more interactive movie experience through deleted scenes, commentaries, and trivia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Facebook, a company known for its invention, has launched a new app called YEAH, for movie lovers. The app, which debuted on May 2, will allow movie watchers to open a 2nd screen option to view the bonus features.

YEAH has 8 movies in its bank, with plans to add 2 titles per month, and you can currently watch Halloween for free. The other titles are Superman, Reservoir Dogs, The Crow, Natural Born Killers, Ghostbusters, The Exorcist and Starship Troopers.

This seems like a pretty solid idea that should be able to avoid the pitfalls of streaming services like Netflix. In addition to just licensing the films, YEAH creates and owns all of the supplemental content, 90% of it being new, meaning that you can get a completely different experience from streaming these movies as opposed to watching dvd extras.

YEAH’s current subscription rate is $5 for unlimited access to its titles and content, with an introductory rate of $20 for six months of unlimited access also available. For more information, check or IGN, which has an in depth review of the app.
