International sales will be launched by FilmNation on the thriller “The Good Nurse” at the European Film Market (EFM), as reported by Variety. The film stars Academy Award Winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) and Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”).

The film will tell the story of Charlie Cullen (Redmayne), a nurse known by the moniker ‘Angel of Death’ who is regarded as one of the deadliest serial killers of all time. Chastain will play the nurse who begins to grow suspicious of Cullen, who is believed to have killed over 300 people during his tenure.

The film is being directed by acclaimed Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm in what will be his first English language feature. He is best known for directing the Academy Award nominated “A War” and writing the screenplay for the devastating “The Hunt” which was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Lindholm won’t be writing the script for this however, with Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“1917”) adapting the Charles Graeber book on the killings.

Redmayne is set to star in Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7” which will be released later this year, whilst continuing in his role as Newt Scamander in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise. His performance as Stephen Hawking won him the Academy Award for Best Actor in “The Theory of Everything” and he received a nomination the very next year for “The Danish Girl.” Portraying Cullen will certainly be a much darker, grittier role than audiences are used to seeing from Redmayne.

Chastain’s recent work meanwhile includes playing the adult version of Beverly Marsh in “It: Chapter Two” and starring in the X-Men film “Dark Phoenix.” “The Good Nurse” certainly sounds like it has awards potential in the acting categories and could perhaps bring Chastain a third nomination, having previously been cited for her performances in “The Help” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

Scott Franklin and Darren Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, who both received Academy Award nominations for “Black Swan,” will produce the film along with FilmNation Entertainment. CAA Media Finance will co-represent the film.
