First Image of Zazie Beetz as Domino in ‘Deadpool 2’

Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool”) has just revealed a first look at “Deadpool 2’s” Domino, played by Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”) via Twitter. The image harkens back to Reynold’s first official images as Deadpool, according to The Verge, which featured him lying on a bearskin rug à la Burt Reynold’s 1972 photo shoot with Cosmopolitan.

Beetz poses in a similar tableau as the first official Deadpool image, with one major difference; she’s lying on Deadpool’s suit, which Reynolds referred to as a “red carpet” in his tweet. See the image below.

Beetz is best known for her work on TV series “Atlanta,” where she plays Van. Her role has been commended by many, with Vice hailing her character as “One of TV’s Most Fascinating Characters.” She’ll be playing Domino, aka Neena Thurman, a mutant member of the X-Force, known for her fighting and marksmanship skills. She’s also the romantic partner of Cable, played by Josh Brolin (“Sicario”) in “Deadpool 2.”

The “Deadpool” sequel will also feature T.J. Miller (“Silicon Valley”), and Brianna Hildebrand (“First Girl I Loved”). Reynolds is also serving as a producer on the film, while David Leith (“Atomic Blonde”) directs. The sequel’s script is written by Rhett Reese (“Deadpool”), Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”), and Drew Goddard (“World War Z”), with various characters in the film created by comics writers Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld.

“Deadpool 2” premieres June 1, 2018.
