First Images from Robert Zemeckis’ ‘The Walk’

Today we got a first look at the next film by Robert Zemeckis, The Walk. It recounts the famous true story of Philippe Petit’s daring high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. As you may recall, the documentary version of this story (Man on Wire) won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature of 2008. I’m not yet convinced that it would make for a compelling narrative feature, but there’s definitely some Oscar potential here.

The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit, with a screenplay written by Zemeckis and Christopher Browne, adapted from Petit’s own memoir. The Walk is currently slated for release on October 2, 2015.
