First Trailer for ‘Prisoners,’ Starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal

Warner Bros. has dropped the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners, and boy does it look impressive. Every parent’s worst nightmare is the abduction of their child, and speaking as a father, there is nothing I wouldn’t be capable of when it comes to getting them back. This is the case for Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman), a father who decides to take the law into his own hands after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped, and the police (Jake Gyllenhaal) are unable to help. Jackman looks outstanding in the little we see, and the big question is whether or not this will be an awards vehicle for his performance or just a popcorn thriller. Paul Dano, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis , Melissa Leo, and Maria Bello also star. September 20.

Lover of all things film and Oscar. Fantasy sports’ equivalent of George Steinbrenner. Your very own Han Solo, making friends all over the movie-loving galaxy in spite of himself. When he’s not ranking just about everything or dominating boardgames, Mark is breaking down the Oscar race 24/7 with Rain Man-like stats and knowledge. In his downtime, you can find him commiserating with other Northeast Ohio sports fans because a hero isn’t complete without a little heartbreak. If Game of Thrones, Lost, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Survivor are your style, then congratulations, you have something in common with this inglourious basterd.
