First Trailer for ‘This is Where I Leave You’ Has Dropped

this-is-where-i-leave-you-slice1Periodically, I’ve floated the outside chance of This is Where I Leave You contending for a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination. Most of that was based on how highly I think of author Jonathan Tropper, who wrote the adaptation here of his own novel (it didn’t hurt that Steven Spielberg had also at one point hired him to write the Harvey remake he almost did). Well, now the first Trailer has hit for the film and while I don’t think it’ll likely add up to quite enough for any kind of Oscar contention, it does look like a fairly faithful rendition of the novel, which I loved, along with showcasing some nice chemistry between cast members. Take a look at the Trailer below, which features the ensemble cast of Jason Bateman, Jane Fonda, Tina Fey, Rose Byrne, Adam Driver, Kathryn Hahn, Corey Stoll, Connie Britton, Ben Schwartz, Timothy Olyphant, and Dax Shepard. The movie hits in September, right at the start of awards season, for what that’s worth. This is Where I Leave You is a favorite book of mine, so I’ll be crossing my fingers that the whole thing lives up to my expectations…
